Thompson, who has played in 51 majors despite being 26, said: “It’s really exciting not to have a whole new format to look forward to, but to have another big event on the LET schedule in the UK. It’s a place I love to visit and play golf, so I can’t wait to go in July.”
Hall, who has played in two Solheim Cup tournaments including the record 4-0 at Gleneagles in 2019, is also excited that the Aramco Teams Series will become a regular match on the Tour.
“It’s a new and different look,” she said. “And it will only be a force for good in women’s golf.
“An investment like this is great to see and to be able to take the game to new places around the world and inspire the next generation of young golfers is really great to be a part of. Starting in London, for me, will make it so special.”
“It’s a really nice addition to the tour that I think most of us can’t wait to take part in.”
Alexandra Armas, CEO of LET, added: “For LET, the Aramco Team Series events are a huge moment of elevation for the women’s game, and having a strong field like us is fantastic.
“We are always more than happy to do things a little differently – take risks, try new things and mix up the way we play and experience golf. This is definitely what the Aramco Team Series promises.
“The excitement at Centurion will open an exciting new chapter in women’s golf and one we see playing a huge role in the game’s continued growth.”
Aramco’s Ahmed Al Subaie said: “We are delighted to support events that we believe have the power to change things and raise the bar for women’s golf internationally, and catalyze it in Saudi Arabia. When the concept was first introduced to us, we saw it as a natural fit for our investment in global sports and our continued support for women’s sports.
“It is an honor for us to be the title sponsors of the Aramco Team Series, and the three other Women’s European Tour events that we will be supporting this year, and we look forward to being there every step of the way as the game of women’s golf continues to grow and expand reaching all around the world.”
