World champion PV Sindhu made a great start in the All England Badminton Championships as Kedambe Srikanth lost the first round to 20-year-old Nhat Nguyen on Wednesday.
The Indian women’s duo Ashwini Punaba, N Sekke Reddy and the men’s pair of Satwiksiraj Rankiriddi and Chirag Shetty also qualified for the second round with a back-to-back win in the match.
Olympic silver medalist Sendo gave a good account of herself as she covered the court so well and delivered a disciplined performance to beat world number 32 Malaysia Sonia Cheh 21-11, 21-17 in 38 minutes.
The fifth Indian seed will face the Danish Kristofferson streak next.
Irish Real Nguyen started to grab the first half with a score of 21-10 on a positive note. Srikanth came back strong by winning second at 21-15 but the youngster finally laughed by closing the standoff at 21-12.

Parupali Kashyap lost his first-round match to world number one Kento Momota. He defeated the Indian in straight matches 21-13, 22-20.

Earlier today, the Indian badminton squad was allowed to participate in the tournament after players, who initially tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, came back negative in tests by the World Badminton Federation.
Three Indian passengers and a support team tested positive on Tuesday while a few were waiting for confirmation.
