Defender Kothajit Singh Khadangbam: The Indian hockey team is preparing well for the Tokyo Olympics

India men’s hockey team defender Kothajit Singh Khadangbam, who has played more than 200 matches for Team India, said the national team is forming well for the Olympics Since the resumption of sports activities in August 2020. Kothajit also said that the Indian team returned to the pitch in time and is progressing in every sports activities session. “It has been great to be back on the field. We have seen a lot of improvement over the past two months and we are preparing well for the Olympics. The defender who returned to the national team at FIH hockey Pro League 2020 having missed the FIH Olympic qualifiers, said he knows the aspects he needs to work on to cement a solid place in the Indian team.

“Getting off the side is not easy and therefore I am determined to work as hard as possible to enhance my place in the Indian team. I have thoroughly analyzed my game during lockdown and know which aspects of my game I need to work on. The next few months are very crucial for all of us and with the Olympics postponed, We have a great opportunity to strengthen our individual and team game even more,” said the 28-year-old.


Kothajit also added that he feels very lucky to be playing alongside players like Harmanpreet Singh.

“I feel very lucky to be playing hockey in the current era. We have a great balance between young and experienced players in the team, especially in the defence. I am very fortunate to play alongside some great players like Harmanpreet. We are all trying to inspire each other to improve. And I think this is a great environment to be in. I hope we can make India proud at the Olympic Games next year,” the defender said.
