I am lucky to have the opportunity to play against the best

Stefanos Tsitsipas Let his emotions flow after his groundbreaking 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3 Alexander Zverev Friday in Paris.

After reaching his first Grand Slam final – and becoming the first Greek player ever to reach one – Tsitsipas was on the verge of tears as he spoke to the crowd at Stade Philippe Chatrier after the match.

After the final, the 22-year-old Greek spoke about how grateful he was to play the sport he loves and test his strength against the best in the world.

“I’m proud of myself,” Tsitsipas said. “I actually love what I do. I love to play in this stadium. I am grateful for every game I play. Obviously, I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to play against the best and test myself, something I have always dreamed of and hope to one day happen. I am able to Being here and really doing it. I love it.”

Tsitsipas, who was playing in his fourth semi-final at the Grand Slam today in Paris, and second at Roland Garros, says he is ready to leave everything on the field for Sunday’s final.

“I think I’ve shown good discipline so far,” he said, noting the improvements he’s been making over the past few years. “I’ve been progressive. There’s the final, and it’s exciting. I’m looking forward to letting my whole body go on the field.”
