Ahead of the new Premier League season, a Liverpool star is already being tipped for a future career at either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
None of the Spanish giants have made an inquiry to the player, it must be said, although Ralf Rangnick clearly believes that Ibrahima Konate’s future lies beyond his time at Anfield.
“He is so good that one day he could play for Real Madrid or Barcelona,” Rangnick was quoted as saying Athletics.
Jurgen Klopp must certainly be tired of all the rumors surrounding some of his best players, with both Mo Salah and Sadio Mane also linked to one of Spain’s big two in recent times.
Konate has only just joined the club and will of course be judged on the standard of his performance there.
However, it is not helpful, even if such a comment is meant with the best of intentions, to put ideas in the player’s heads.
If an agreement is to be made for this purpose in the future, it is because the player and both clubs want it.
