Makazul Mapembe, who picked up a strain of calf, will not appear to the sharks against the bulls on Saturday as a precaution.
The Sharks announced Friday that Mapimpi will not appear this weekend to ensure the calf injury does not worsen.
Mapimpi was an automatic pick in Springbok’s 46-man squad selected this past weekend, as the winger put in an outstanding performance on his recent return to the Sharks after a stint in Japan.
The World Cup star’s withdrawal led to a turn for Volmenck, who was originally named from the right wing. He will now move to the No. 11 shirt, while Werner Koke will start on the other wing.
Sharks have also released a list of alternatives to the game against the bulls, which includes Thomas du Toit and Ox Nche.
Due to injury, some late changes have been made to #our fish The team that will face the Vodacom Bulls at Jonsson Kings Park tomorrow afternoon
