Ticket sales for the inaugural edition of the Pro Volleyball League began on Monday, and the season is set to begin on February 2. Kochi will face the Blue Spikers and U Mumba Volley in the first match at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Kochi.
Demand for tickets, which were priced at Rs. 299, for the match between the Kochi Blue Spikers and Calicut Heroes on February 9 was particularly high. Fans can take advantage of season tickets at a 30 percent discount.
Joy Bhattacharya, chief executive of the Pro Volleyball Association, said: “We are really pleased to have such enthusiasm among volleyball fans in the state. Seeing the fans’ interest in the derby makes us believe that such enthusiasm will be shown in all of the league matches. We hope that the first season will be a real success. Among all the volleyball fans in the country.”
Kochi will host twelve matches until February 13 before the season moves to Chennai (Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium), where six matches (including the semi-finals and Final) will be held.
Ahmedabad Defenders, Chennai Spartans, U Mumba Foley and Hyderabad Blackhawks are the other four teams in the league, which will play in league format, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals.
