Anticipation is building ahead of the next European Championship, and what better team to start things off than that Italywho defies Turkey.
Tonight’s match will kick off at 21:00 at the Olympic Stadium (20:00 GMT) as the Azzurri defend a long streak undefeated.
The Blues won all 10 of their playoffs en route to this tournament, building 27 matches without tasting defeat under Roberto Mancini.
However, Turkey is not without its own level, remaining unbeaten in each of their last six matches, and it would be a mistake to underestimate the talent in their squad.
Marco Verratti is Italy’s main absentee at the moment, while Lorenzo Pellegrini has had an injury this week as well, but other than that we don’t have much to complain about on that front.
Three of Juve’s defensive players are likely to start this evening, but Italian duo Federico Chiesa and Federico Bernadeschi aren’t conferred on play from the start, although I think Mancini would be crazy not to view the former Fiorentina winger as a key player.
Eleventh Italy predicted:
Florenze Bonucci Chiellini Spinazzola
Barilla, Jorginho, Locatelli
Insigne Stationary Church
Turkey has plenty of players we’ll need to know this evening, with Hakan Calhanoglu’s eye on a pass and a steady ability that’s no secret to Serie A fans.
They also have a number of top players in Yusuf Yazigi, Zeki Celik, Merih Demiral and Burak Yilmaz who will also need their special attention.
I can’t help but believe that Italy will claim the three points this evening, but I don’t think it will be an easy task.
My prediction goes so far as to say Demiral will get a yellow card, while Immobile will score himself on the scoring list in a 2-1 win.
What are your expectations for opening tonight? Does anyone think that Italy will not beat the Turks?
