The Knicks weren’t the only team interested in Kelly Oubre Jr.
Mark Berman of The Washington Post reported on Monday The Knicks and the Warriors striker have common interests. Uber, which will hit the free dealer market this summer, has also sparked interest from the Heat and Tottenham, according to Yahoo Sports.
The Warriors can still try and get the Oubre back as the team previously said is part of their long-term plans.
However, Uber, who turned 25 in December, is likely to come off the bench when Klay Thompson returns from a torn right Achilles tendon he suffered in November 2020.
Oubre is said to be looking for a bigger payday on the open market.
He feels confident that he can get over it $20 million a year in a long-term deal, according to Michael Scott podcast hoops. In 2020-21, Oubre earned less than $14.4 million from the Warriors.
At 6-foot-7 with a 7-3 wingspan, Oubre has plenty of promise to add athleticism, shooting and elite defensiveness wherever he lands in free agency.
