Italy started Euro 2020 in a spectacular way with a convincing 3-0 victory over Turkey in front of a passionate crowd in Rome.
Robert Mancini’s side have entered the tournament as dark horses, but will certainly have gained plenty of intrigue and respect for the way they easily dismantled Turkey.
Like his team, Demiral looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights much of the match, and when an opponent shot towards the city line and fired a ball over the Turkish goal, the Juventus defender was unfortunately in the wrong position and saw the clumsy burst of him and into the back of the net.
A game that especially the whole nation of Turkey and Demiral will forget in a hurry.
Fortunately, Ciro Immobile was ready to dispel any concerns in the opening game as he curled up a wonderful goal shortly after the hour mark to double Italy’s lead and confirm all three points for his nation.
As if that was not enough, the Lazio striker received the balloon on the edge of the box and managed with some quick feet to put Lorenzo Insigne up in the 80th minute to make it three for the Italians.
Perhaps the most obvious example of this gung-ho attitude came in the form of Leonardo Spinazzola. Despite being a right-footed defender, the left-back was rarely seen in his own half as he joined one attack after another.
The defender finally got a reward for his hard work when he fired the ball into the box in the 66th minute to put Immobile up for the second goal. An excellent performance from the defender.
