Golf Business News – Sandels Signs Greg Norman as Global Ambassador

Sandals Resorts International has signed golf icon Greg Norman as the global golf ambassador for all of its major golf destinations.

Sandals’ current golf portfolio extends to four resorts on three islands, including Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahamas; Sandals Golf Club at Sandals Regency La Toke, Sandals Golf and Country Club in Cape Estate in Saint Lucia, and Sandals Golf and Country Club in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

In his new and expanded role, Norman will appear in strategic marketing campaigns for Sandals Resorts across print, digital and social media, as well as through personal appearances and special events for the resort company and its golf destinations. He will also assume an advisory role and provide tactical guidance to the golf and specialist travel market to deliver world-class golf experiences to Sandals Resorts for players of every skill level.

“It is almost unheard of for a single hotelier to own so many unique and exotic Caribbean lots that are central to world-class golf courses, catering to guests from all over the world. My close friends at Sandal have done just that, and I am honored that The Stewart family is requesting that all of these properties be officially represented,” Norman said. “Already well known as the name behind the world’s only five-star listed luxury resorts, I am confident that our expanded partnership will further enhance and differentiate the Sandals Resorts golf experience.”

To celebrate the expanded partnership, Sandals is launching a Play like a ‘shark’ golf lottery., giving one lucky couple the chance to win a 4 day/3 night stay for any one of the six Golf resorts in the Caribbean, including Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahamas, Sandals Ochi and Sandals Royal Plantation in Jamaica, Sandals Regency La Toc, and Sandals Grande St. Lucian, and Sandals Halcyon Beach in St. Lucia.

“Greg Norman is a wonderful partner who understands and shares our philosophy of consistently delivering more than what a customer expects,” said Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts International. “For many travelers, golf is the reason for a vacation, but even for those new to the game, our partnership with Greg and his team ensures that guests of Sandals Golf Resorts in the Caribbean can enjoy an incredible world-class experience.”

Recently, Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) teamed up with Sandals Resorts to completely redesign Sandals St Lucia Golf & Country Club on the Cap Estate in Gros Islet, St Lucia. The redesigned 18-hole championship layout features 7,000 yards of dramatic elevation changes with undulating greens set behind by the lush Caribbean vegetation of St. Lucia and the island’s remarkable natural beauty.

“We can’t wait to unveil the extraordinary transformation that has taken place at the Sandals St. Lucia Golf and Country Club in the Cape Estate. Our plans include a formal ribbon cutting in late summer to celebrate this wonderful design project,” added Stewart.
