The Mississippi State Bulldogs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish play each other one last time with a trip to the 2021 College World Series on the line.
After the Mississippi State Bulldogs won the game one of the Starkville Super Regional with an impressive comeback, Notre Dame Fighting Irish forced a Game 3 in the form of an absolute blowout Sunday night.
At one point Saturday afternoon, the state of Mississippi found itself with a four-run deficit. The Bulldogs followed 7-3 at their own stadium with a record amount present about halfway through the game. But in front of over 14,000 fans, Mississippi State made a comeback and won 9-8 to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Then on Sunday the Bulldogs jumped out and got a quick 1-0 lead over Notre Dame. But to the disappointment of the home crowd, Notre Dame would not just go down without a fight. Instead, the struggling Irish scored nine unanswered runs, beating the Bulldogs 9-1 and then forcing a game 3.
Now it’s a win-take-all affair. The winner of Monday night will advance to the College World Series. Whoever falls short will see their season end.

Despite the fact that Game 2 was not competitive in any way, shape or form, this series has already proven to be electric and fascinating to keep up with.
Game one was an instant classic for Mississippi State, which will have to find a way to recreate some of the momentum it had on Saturday as the Bulldogs try to get back to Omaha for the third straight NCAA Baseball Tournament.
In game 2, Notre Dame showed that it could beat anyone, including a college baseball blue blood in its own stadium. The Fighting Irish showed up in Starkville with a chip on their shoulders and have shown that they are better than many have given them credit for.
Now game 3 is here. Make sure you get to ESPN2 to catch the Bulldogs and Fighting Irish face.
