Visit Kent, the official destination management organization responsible for the support and development of tourism in Kent GMS As the marketing agency for an upcoming campaign focusing on the 149th Open.

With the domestic golf tourism sector in unprecedented demand, Visit Kent, through its dedicated partnership ‘Golf in Kent’, is looking to use the organization of Europe’s most important golf event to expand the range of offerings in the region, and eventually bring more visitors to the region. GMS will be primarily tasked with increasing brand and product awareness, multi-channel content creation, social media growth, and multi-faceted marketing consulting. The pandemic has brought uncertainty and turmoil to the tourism industry, but with the golf sector booming and consumer confidence starting to return, Visit Kent is looking forward to an exciting second half of 2021 and beyond.

As the county prepares to host The Open’s return to Royal St George’s after last year’s postponement, Visit Kent via Golf in Kent aims to use the spotlight to generate renewed interest and showcase the full range of amenities for golf tourists.

Kent’s upcoming golf campaign is supported by recent funding secured by Visit Kent and its partners at Kent Downs AONB as part of a four-year European project. Interreg EXPERIENCE will support businesses across the province to adapt to changing consumer trends and become more resilient by creating new innovative visitor experiences. This summer’s campaign activity aims to showcase the range of new visitor experiences on offer, inspire those watching The 149th Open from home, and encourage spectators to return to the county outside the height of the summer season.
