The Badminton India Association (BAIIn a recent call, he informed the government federations to vaccinate their players and officials as soon as possible, as they decided to launch the remainder of the 2021-22 domestic season soon with strict COVID-19 guidelines. According to the recently announced guidelines by BAI, players over the age of 18, coaches, technical officers, organizing team and staff will have to complete vaccination doses and must hold a vaccination certificate with a valid barcode.
However, for passengers under the age of 18, a negative RT PCR report with a barcode is required to be carried, 96 hours prior to the departure station.
The season will begin with senior ranking tournaments followed by events from other age groups.
“The domestic season has been suspended for over a year now. We are trying to start but the situation has not allowed us to move forward,” Ajay Singhania, BAE’s general secretary, said in an official statement.
“But now we want to make sure that when the tournaments start, we start to get fully involved at the same time that all safety protocols are in place, so it’s important to encourage vaccinations,” he added.
“The purpose of this alert is to inform everyone, all government players and stakeholders to get their vaccinations immediately,” Singhania said.
BAI decided to restart the domestic badminton business in the country with the top-ranking tournaments in April earlier this year with a revamped structure and revised prize money of INR 2.2 crore for its domestic season.
But with the second wave of COVID-19 in the country, tournaments had to be postponed.
However, this announcement will come as a breath of fresh air for all shuttle vehicles and Badminton enthusiasts in the country.
