CBS writes Steelers’ Roster is the 9th most talented in the NFL

Although many in the national media have tried the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2021 chances, at least one outlet – or at least one author – may like the composition of their list. CBS ranked the NFL’s rosters, 1-32, and author Jordan Dajani named Steelers for having the ninth best list in football.

Here’s what he wrote about the Steelers’ offense.

“Even after the Steelers started 11-0 last year, their late season flared up and questions about Ben Roethlisberger forward have many baisse in 2021. I agree they could take a step backwards but this list on paper still has the talent to fight. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson are good weapons, Najee Harris was the top that ran back in this incoming class and even Pat Freiermuth could surprise some people in his first season. Offensive line is a little worrying, though Turner’s boy is a good signature. ”

A rosy view of all the bombs threw the Steelers’ way over the last four months. Much of the discussion has been around an offensive line that has gotten a bigger facelift than your favorite B-list celebrity, but Dajani focuses his talent on the skill positions. The team re-signed JuJu Smith-Schuster, should expect Chase Claypool would see another leap, and Diontae Johnson’s 2020 season was better than many people think. They also drafted Najee Harris as part of upgrading the team’s offensive line.

But the elephant in the room is the top five. It undoubtedly carries more question marks than any other group in football. Make no mistake, there is talent here. Kevin Dotson could be a stud. Zach Banner sees that part of a real tackle. Rookie Kendrick Green’s flash is impressive. But how they come together as a collective five is anyone’s guess.

Dajani then focused on the strength of the team, the Steelers’ defense.

“This defense must again be one of the best in the league. Losing Bud Dupree was not ideal, however Alex Highsmith seems like a player ready to step up in his absence. Working out of TJ Watt and Devin Bush Jr. must also help. A place outside the corner kick will be ready to train in the training camp, however Joe Haden, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds constitutes a pretty good secondary. ”

Pittsburgh still has a strong defense capable of coming after the quarterback and making games in the secondary. But their defense could take a step back with Mike Hilton, Bud Dupree and Steven Nelson. How young players like Alex Highsmith, James Pierre, Antoine Brooks Jr. evolving will be crucial in determining whether this entity withdraws. These matches will take place in training camp and preseason.

The Tennessee Titans finished somewhere behind the Steelers at No. 10. Some place ahead of them at # 8 was the Washington Football Team. The ranked No. 1 went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Houston Texans finished last dead in the league.
