Ramez says Pakistan has ‘advantage’ after COVID-19 outbreak in England camp

KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja believes the Green Shirts now have an advantage over Pakistan after the COVID-19 outbreak in the England camp just two days before the ODI series.

Three members of the initial playgroup and four members of the management team tested positive in Bristol and in the midst of the chaos, the European Central Bank announced a new team to be led by Ben Stokes.

“The Pakistan national team got an advantage and they should take advantage of the negativity in the England dressing room. Pakistan has breathing space because of this tragedy, but it remains to be seen how they play,” he said on his YouTube channel.

Rams lamented that England are so desperate about the COVID-19 situation and they themselves are the only ones to blame.

“Tests on England players have tested positive, which is not a good thing. But it can bring negativity into the dressing room and you need to restart your group. They brought Ben Stokes back, so you can understand their desperation.”

“Their attitude to Covid-19 was very strange. They felt like they were in prison and were not ready to follow protocols such as wearing masks and social distancing, and this desperation led to their team making negative headlines.

He concluded by saying: “Whether England will get the bank out of this situation or Pakistan will benefit from it.”
