US Superstar Thompson with Icon LETE LAURA DAVIES for Aramco Team Series – London

American star golfer Lexi Thompson has admitted she ‘can’t wait’ to team up with Lady Laura Davis after being chosen to enlist the captain. Aramco Team Series – LondonStarting tomorrow at the Centurion Club.

The duo is joined by Spanish professional star Elia Fulch, while an amateur completes his quartet for the innovative million-dollar event in which two tournaments are held side by side.

The main focus is on the team title with player points from each of the 54 holes that count toward the team’s total tally. All 108 professionals also have an individual crown to target.

World number 9 Thompson and fellow superstar Davis are sure to deliver a series of highlights – and fun – over the next three days.

American ace Thompson said: “I’m really looking forward to being with Laura. Just playing this event, it’s a great honor to be here. I’ve played with Laura for a bit and she’s just a great guy – but what a game. She’s going to pull off some shots we’ll never see – that’s the part Amazing. I want to play well, but at the same time I just want to enjoy myself. I know she will too.”

Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew used to hand out picks but was on the receiving end of Tuesday’s draft when teammate Scott Carly Booth picked her up.

Booth, Matthew – known as “Benny” during golf – will be joined by Norwegian Stena Risen by an amateur to attempt to tilt to the top end of the leaderboard.

Booth said: “There are a lot of obvious reasons why I chose Benny, for being a bit of a mentor and someone I’ve been looking forward to. She’s inspiring, she’s a Solheim Cup winner, and so many Solheims behind her. We’re coping very well, so it’s going to be a great week.”

English star Georgia Hall has clear goals in terms of what she wants to achieve this week.

Hall, 25, said: “The goal is to win both! That’s my only goal. If you play well on your own and you’re there, I think you have a good chance to do well in the team (event). I’ve played well in the last few events, so yeah – I’m totally confident and love to play.” at home “.

Hall chose fellow English golfer Gabriella Cowley in the draft and they will team up with Sweden’s Philippa Mork.

The 2018 Women’s British Open Hall of Fame added: “I’m really excited for this event. It’s an event I’ve been looking forward to for a very long time. I have to play not far. I’m very used to being on the plane for 10 or 11 hours, so that’s really cool. And it’s nice to be playing on an English golf course and to play something different.”

Minjee Lee is another big name in the star-studded event scheduled for the Centurion Club. The Australian plays primarily on the LPGA Tour but loves her visits to the Women’s European Tour.

The world number 14 is playing alongside Hayley Davis and Katia Pogakar this week – as well as their amateur partner. And she had some advice for lucky golfers who will have a rare chance to play with some of the biggest stars of the women’s game.

He said to me: “They might be a little nervous playing with three pros – so maybe just having fun. If they have questions, we’re really happy to answer – we don’t bite! Dagar, 20, said: “This week is going to be very exciting. I played last time in Saudi and it was fun. We enjoyed it as a team – ‘let’s make more birds, let’s win this tournament!’ If the weather is good, I hope they score good goals (this week).”

Next month, the Aramco Teams Series will move to Sotogrande, Spain (August 5-7). The third event will take place in New York (October 14-16) before heading to Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in Saudi Arabia (November 10-12). for each event.
