Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of Benfica star Nuno Tavares.
This comes from the athlete, with the 21-year-old full-back joining in a long-term deal believed to be no more than €10m.
“I’m fast, I shoot with my right foot, but I’m left-handed”, Signed said Arsenal.com.
“I can dribble and improvise. Those are my qualities, my style. I have more qualities and I will find more at this club.
“I am very excited because it is a big club and for me as a young man it is a pleasure to be here.
“When I finished the season, my agent told me that Arsenal were interested in me. At first I was very happy and then I dreamed about him, and [spoke about it] with my mother.
“I was so excited to be here, and now I’m here I’m so happy.”
The Portugal Under-21 superstar is unlikely to be the first choice of Mikel Arteta’s men, as he is likely to play a substitute role for left-back Kieran Tierney.
The purchase solves a major problem for the Premier League side as the former Arsenal boss admitted his team struggled to overcome a lack of proper support for the Scottish full back.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also in talks with Brighton over a £50m move for Brighton & Hove Albion star Ben White, with the South Coast side reportedly already turning down two offers from the London-based club.
Arteta’s side are also expected to secure a midfield signature across the line – to tackle another key vacancy following the exits of Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard – with Fabrizio Romano After I mentioned that Albert Sambi Lokonga is ready to make the switch.
