St Mark’s Cathedral shines again to land on Coral-Eclipse in Sandown

Only four horses went to participate in the first group race

St Mark’s Cathedral put in another dominant display of landing the first group Coral-Eclipse in Sandown.

The French derby winner, coached by Aidan O’Brien and chased by Ryan Moore, beat his older rivals Adeeb and Musharraf.

Moore tracked older horses early on, and when asked for a challenge, his horse responded quickly to win three and a half lengths.

It was O’Brien’s sixth race-record victory.

“It’s a beautiful horse,” he said. “Every race he’s upped – and Ryan gave him a nice ride here.

“It’s always a nervous time when you’re dealing with older horses and others are older horses. To do that for them makes it special.”
