Weather affects the third round. Jim Forek leads by 4

Mother Nature has decided to intervene in the 2021 US Open soccer tournament.

Saturday start The third round is late Due to some storm damage at the Omaha Country Club. Several trees were uprooted and cut down. Some spectator seats and a television tower were also brought to the ground due to high winds.

Then, at 1:49 p.m. local time, the American Golf Association blew the horn and halted play for two hours and 55 minutes.

Just another obstacle for golfers to navigate as they fight for their fourth major in 2021.

Jim Furyek, who was chasing his first major championship, woke up Saturday with a two-shot lead over Stephen Ames and by three shots over Miguel Angel Jimenez. Furyk broke the fourth and fifth holes and by the time he played the role, he had four shots. He closed with sparrows at 16 and 18 for 66 and kept that lead in four shots after 54 holes.

“I’ll take 66 any day at the US Open,” he said. “It started really well, kind of got off and then the rain delayed. After I got out of the delay, I lost my rhythm, sort of put myself in some awkward spots.”

But he grinded some parts out of those spots and said that was the real key to his Saturday tour.

One of the five former US Open champions on the field, Furyek is vying to become the eighth player to win both the US Open and the US Open.

US Open: leaderboard

Stephen Ames made a flying hit of 18 from about 10 feet for 68 to put him in the final set with Furyk. Ames at 4 less than.

Former U.S. Open champion Retief Josen made the birdie on 17 and 18 to reach the round of 66 and sit in third on his own. “Finishing a birdie in the last two slots was great,” he said, adding that the level he held on the 16th looked like a bird.

Steve Fleisch made the round of the day, firing 6-under 64, matching Furyk’s second round 64 for Tour of the Week. He had one ghost and seven birds on his scorecard and he’s fourth alone.

“The US Opens aren’t my thing,” Fleisch told Golf Channel after his tour. “I don’t drive it straight, but I did make some hits. If I get the paddle and lock the irons, I can run out of some sparrows.”

Omaha Country Club is hosting the US Open for the second time.
