Kylian Mbappe was expected to have a great summer and put himself firmly in the conversation for being the best player in the world now, but he actually ended up being the villain after he missed a vital penalty against Switzerland.
It’s hard to see that as anything other than a glimpse on his path to greatness, but his future at PSG has been in question for a while now.
The Parisians missed out on the Ligue 1 title last season and failed again in the Champions League, so a major effort was made in the transfer market with Sergio Ramos, Jenny Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi joining the squad.
Unfortunately, these arrivals don’t seem to be enough to keep him around, and the latest reports from Spain suggest he’s decided he’s going to play for Real Madrid:

It is not actually clear if Real Madrid can afford to sign him this summer But his deal expires in the summer of 2022 So he will be available on a free transfer, and it looks like he will be on his way to the Bernabeu sometime soon.
PSG don’t exactly need the money, so they may decide it pays to keep it everywhere and go after the Champions League trophy, but it would also be a huge blow to lose it for free.
Real Madrid have an aging squad that could be a hit so Mbappe can adapt to it, and it’s possible that he could put up impressive numbers in La Liga if he makes the move.
