Report claims Newcastle’s Freddie Woodman has rejected Leeds move

Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has turned down a summer switch to Leeds United according to a report by Football Insider.

White boss Marcelo Bielsa is believed to be looking for a top-class goalkeeper this summer.

This is because Kiko Casilla is allowed to leave Elland Road to join the Spanish Elche CF on loan.

Yorkshire Evening Post reported yesterday that Newcastle stopper Woodman was a transfer target for Leeds.

It looks like Bielsa may now have to look elsewhere.

Freddie Woodman rejects Leeds move

Football Insider reckons Newcastle were ready to let the stopper join the whites. However, he has reportedly rejected a move to Elland Road. It’s apparently because he did not want to be Leeds’ second goalkeeper.

The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons away from St James’ Park on loan at Swansea City.

He really impressed that the Swans only conceded 97 goals in 95 games and kept 34 clean sheets in the process.

Woodman would have been a useful addition for Leeds. He certainly would have kept Illan Meslier on his toes.

The Chronicle claims the Magpies value the goalkeeper at around £ 15 million.

However, taking into account Football Insider’s report, the Newcastle goalkeeper will not be rocking on Elland Road anytime soon.
