Giannis Antetokounmpo’s block gave the Bucks a chance in the NBA Finals

The Milwaukee Bucks Entered Game 4 from 2021 The NBA Finals Knowing that they were in a must-position to win. Phoenix won the first two games of the series before the Bucks responded with a Game 3 win that gave them the chance to hold things together on Wednesday night. The nerves on both sides were evident from the first minutes, but the end result was the most exciting match of the finals to date.

The Bucks beat the Suns 109-103 to draw 2-2. Milwaukee trailed most of the night, but came back for the win behind some play-offs from Khris Middleton and a stunning defensive play from Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks had a two-point lead with just over a minute remaining in the fourth quarter when Phoenix ran into a dribble between Dender Eaton and Devin Booker for the ensuing possession. Milwaukee’s PJ Tucker trailed Booker when he received the ball while Antetokounmpo tried to position himself between Booker and Ayton as the big man rolled to the basket.

Booker delivered a heavy blow to Ayton for what could have been a peg bucket game, but Giannis had other ideas. Antetokounmpo jumped in the air and stopped the shot before Ayton could knock it home.

The Bucks will score on the next takeover, and take control of the game. With the season hanging in the balance, it was the Bucks’ two-time best player who delivered the biggest game of the night on the defensive end of the floor.

Antetokounmpo finished the night with 28 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists, and five “arrows” (steals + blocks) in 11 of 19 shots from the field. This performance came as a result of better efforts in Games 2 and 3 of the series, when he finished with 40 double-doubles in each.

Middleton was Milwaukee’s offensive star in Game 4. He scored 40 points in 15 of 33 shots in the win.

The still image of a Giannis massif is an instant classic:

Antetokounmpo was asked about the play after the match, and he went into a detailed explanation of how he read Booker’s pass to make the play. He answered it in the most possible way for Giannis.

“Hustle play. I thought I would drown, to be honest with you.”

Some guys won’t even try to do this because they don’t want the embarrassment that comes with getting soaked in the water. Antetokounmpo never cared about any of that. He has been one of the most competitive players in the league since he was drafted.

For Giannis, doing that block on his run to Ayton when the pass was thrown is simply amazing. Antetokonmo is proving himself on the bigger stage after losing Milwaukee in the second round by Miami Heat In the bubble last year.

Giannis is making brutal stationary lines and doing defensive missions right now. The dollars came back to everyone even with the sun because of it.
