Cutalong at Lake Anna held the official official opening of the 18-hole golf course on July 1. Community representatives also projected visuals of several soon-to-be-launched resort-style amenities, including multi-story clubs, a resident activity center, marina, golf villas and other amenities.
“This is an exciting achievement for Cutalong, bringing a world-class golf and lakefront resort experience to Central Virginia,” he said. Located near the town of Mineral in Louisa County, Virginia, Cutalong features a private 18-hole golf course designed by the famous architect. Tom Clark. Ron Witten, the former Architectural Editor of Golf Digest, has worked with Clark to create a unique experience in Cutalong, combining knowledge of old and new courses to deliver historic golf highlights.
Cutalong is a concept course developed as the design of national golf links for the 21st century. Playing 7,399 yards from rear tees, it recreates features and hole layouts from some of the most popular British and American courses while also showcasing the local area’s mining heritage. Actual tailings piles from the area’s mining days can be found in some railroad holes and timber bunkers in others. It is the only golf community on Anna Lake and currently has over 120 members.

At the media grand opening event, representatives also shared updates for the 891-unit master planned community being built on a thousand-acre site in Cutalong. The master plan calls for a mix of estate plots, single-family homes, townhouses, and golf cottages. Houses and cottages for one family are being built during the first two stages of construction.
Cutalong recently announced that it has partnered with leading architecture and design firm GuernseyTingle to create the club and other facilities. Vanasse Hangen Brustlin was also hired for national civil engineering consultancy and project support.
Stillwater Equity Partners is leading the development of Cutalong, who have detailed plans for other community amenities including dining, swimming pools, walking trails, paddle sports, a market and access to Anna Lake.
